The Evergreen State
Washington state is located in the Pacific Northwest region and shares a border with Canada to its north. The state is named after George Washington. The state's largest metropolitan area is that of Seattle. The state's official mammal is the Olympic marmot. Washington became the 42nd state to join the Union.
Starbucks opened its first coffee shop in the state in 1971. Seattle is also home to both Microsoft and Amazon. The state has several volcanos including Mount St. Helens and Mount Rainier.
