The Volunteer State
Tennessee is located in the Southeastern region of the US. It is an entirely landlocked state and the largest metropolitan area of the state is that of Nashville. The state's official mammals are the Tennessee walking horse and the raccoon. Tennessee was the 16th state overall to join the Union.
The state's motto is, "Agriculture and Commerce." The soft drink Mountain Dew was first invented in Tennessee. The state's nickname was taken from the amount of volunteers who enlisted in the War of 1812.
