North Dakota is located in the Upper Midwest region of the US. The state's name was taken from the indigenous Dakota Sioux community which occupied the region before colonization. The state's largest metropolitan area is that of Fargo. The state's official mammal is the Nokota horse.
The state's motto is "Liberty and Union, Now and Forever, One and Inseparable." The breakfast food cream of wheat was first invented in North Dakota. The state also boasts having made the world's largest hamburger.
