The Magnolia State
Southeastern state that shares a border with Tennessee and Alabama. The Gulf of Mexico lies to its south. The state is the 35th-largest state in terms of total population. Its largest metropolitan area is the Greater Jackson area. Early in its history the state's main economic driver was cotton.
The state's official mammal is the White-tailed deer. Prior to the American Revolution the land was home to the Choctaw. The first human heart transplant happened in the state.
