A mountainous country located on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. It borders Israel in the south and Syria in the north. For over 400 years, it was part of the Ottoman Empire.
It is repeatedly mentioned in the Bible, often in reference to Mount Lebanon. It is home to five UNESCO World Heritage Sites including four ancient cities including Baalbek. Its popular dishes include baba ghanouj, tabbouleh, sfeeha, falafel and shawarma.
