The state was originally a part of Virginia before splitting in 1792 to become the 15th state. The state's economy was originally driven by tobacco plantations. Kentucky's largest metropolitan area is that of Louisville. The state's official flower is the Goldenrod.
The Mammoth Cave National Park is located in Kentucky. The word famous fast food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken started in the state. Louisville Slugger baseball bats also originate from the state.
