A country in Southeast Asia and Oceania. It consists of over 17,000 islands, including Sumatra, Java, Bali and parts of Borneo and New Guinea. Islam was introduced to the country by Sunni traders as early as the 8th century.
It has more than 100 active volcanoes. It is the only country on earth in which the Komodo dragon lives in the wild. It is home to the world's biggest Buddhist temple, Borobudur in Central Java.
