The Gem State
The state of Idaho is located in the Pacific Northwest region of the US. It is the 14th largest state by land area. The state's largest metropolitan area is that of Boise. The state's official amphibian is the Tiger salamander. Idaho became the 43rd state to enter the Union in 1890. Idaho is widely recognized for its potato crops.
The state's land was originally inhabited by the native Nez Percé and Shoshone communities. Idaho's state dance is the Square dance. The world's largest factory for barrel cheese is located in Gooding, Idaho.
