A country located on the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean region. It shares the island with Haiti. Established by Spain in 1492, the colony of Santo Domingo became the site of the first permanent European settlement in the Americas.
It is the only country in the world with a Bible on its flag. The country’s currency is the Dominican peso. It is famous as a producer of bananas, mangos, sugar, coffee, cocoa, and tobacco.
