A landlocked country in the Armenian Highlands of Western Asia. It is a part of the Caucasus region. The Armenian genocide refers to the annihilation of Armenian Christian people living in the Ottoman Empire in 1915-1916.
It was the first country to adopt Christianity as its state religion. The Armenian language has its own alphabet. One of the most popular dishes is dolma, made from minced meat, rice, fresh herbs and spices, wrapped in grape or cabbage leaves.
